Wahshatein barhti gayiN hijr ke aazaar ke saath
Ab to hum baat bhi karte nahi Ghamkhaar ke saath


Hum ne ek umr basar ki hai Gham E yaar ke saath
‘Meer’ do din na jiye hijr ke aazaar ke saath


Ab to hum ghar se nikalte hain to hans dete haiN
Taaq par izzat E saadaat bhi dastaar ke saath


Is qadar khauf hai ab shahr ki galiyoN me K log
Chaap sunte haiN to lag jaate hain diiwaar ke saath


Aek to khaab liye phirte ho galiyoN galiyoN
Us pe takraar bhi karte ho khareedaar ke saath


Shahr ka shahr hi naaseh ho to kya kijiyega
Warna hum rind to bhiR jate hain do chaar ke saath


Hum ko us shahr mein taa’miir ka sauda hai jahaaN
Log me’maar ko chun dete haiN deewaar ke saath


Jo sharaf hum ko mila koocha E jaanaaN se ‘Faraz’
Sooye-maqtal bhi gaye haiN usi pindaar ke saath
